With Lola Amour's rendition of "Raining in Manila," Coldplay takes the Manila crowd by surprise.
During Coldplay's much anticipated return to the Philippines, lead vocalist Chris Martin shocked fans by performing the chorus to Lola Amour's smash song "Raining in Manila."
A sold-out audience greeted British pop-rock band Coldplay at the Philippine Arena when they returned to the nation after a seven-year hiatus for their "Music of the Spheres" world tour.
Chris engaged the audience in small talk early in the event, impressing several with his pronunciation and diction while speaking a little Filipino.
"Maraming, maraming salamat. Magandang gabi po sa inyong lahat. Masaya kaming [bumalik] sa Pilipinas," Chris said. "So happy and grateful, and ang ganda niyong lahat! Okay that's enough Taglish."
The greater surprise came during the encore, which saw Coldplay play "Sparks" on an improvised platform in the center of the assembly.
As his friends made their way back to the main stage, Chris lingered behind, teasing that the dreary weather in the Philippines was constantly on his mind and inspiring a song.
After performing the now-famous chorus of "Raining in Manila," the singer invited a few Lola Amour members to join him.
Chris sat there, amazed by the youthful performers, while Lola Amour singer Pio Dumayas performed an acoustic rendition of their hit song.
Following Lola Amour's rendition of their hit song, Chris came back on stage to close out Coldplay's performance with "Fix You" and "Biutyful."
