Vice Ganda reveals that he declined an ABS-CBN off to revive 'Gandang Gabi Vice'
Gandang Gabi Vice used to bring us joy and relaxation during the night, and many of us have eagerly anticipated its return. However, it seems that there won't be a comeback for now.
Vice Ganda claimed that he was approached by ABS-CBN to host an upgraded version of the chat show "Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV)," but that he couldn't do three shows at the same time. Vice Ganda stated this in response to one @imtristansicat on X (previously Twitter) last Saturday, Oct. 21, who wished for GGV's return while questioning the media behemoth for not bringing it back on broadcast.
“I was actually asked by the management when I signed my new contract if I wanted to do GGV again. I couldn’t do 3 shows anymore, he said.
Despite this, Vice Ganda clarified that he is willing to conduct "GGV" again, but only on a "seasonal" basis.
“Baka pagtapos ng ‘Everybody Sing’ let’s see kung keri ko na. Pero seasonal na lng. Di ko na keri ung another 10 years (Maybe when ‘Everybody Sing’ ends, let’s see if I can do it. But on a seasonal basis. I can’t do it for another 10 years),” he said.
In a subsequent tweet, the "Praybeyt Benjamin" star revealed that he grew weary of interviewing the same guests over and over, citing it as one of the reasons he "decided to sign off."
“Actually true to. Nagsawa na din ako sa paulit ulit na guests. Isa yun sa mga rason kaya i decided to sign off. Pero ngayon mukhang mas malalim na ang balon ng guests kasi sanib pwersa na ang mga networks (hopefully),” he said.
Vice Ganda thanked fans who showed their support for the talk show in separate posts, expressing hope that his "body and mind" will be able to tackle the task in the future.
“Super nakakahappy na kahit ilang years nang di umeere ang GGV bukambibig pa din ito ng madami,” he said. “I’m so blessed to have 3 programs na kinakapitan talaga ng mga tao. It’s Showtime, GGV and Everybody Sing. Thank you ABS CBN.”
