Kim Seon-ho Explores Darker Roles in Action Thriller 'The Tyrant' and 2023 Film 'The Childe
In his 2023 film "The Childe" and television series "The Tyrant," K-drama star Kim Seon-ho is delving into darker roles in an effort to highlight his mature aspect and older appearance.
Kim plays Director Choe in "The Tyrant," a film about a young director of the South Korean intelligence service who is rumored to be the brains behind a top-secret project. The Tyrant Project, a covert program carried out by the South Korean government with the goal of gathering a bioweapon that may improve human powers, is the subject of the action thriller.
Nevertheless, the US government discovered the initiative, forcing its discontinuation. But just as the biological weapon was going to be handed over, an unexplained attacker miraculously stopped it, sparking a furious chase between the governments of South Korea and the United States.
“He is the youngest director in the unit, but he’s someone who wants to protect ‘The Tyrant Program’ at all costs. As you can tell, aside from being the director, he’s calm and cold-hearted and can even have a nice brunch. That’s who he is,” Kim said of his character at a press conference in Seoul.
A four-episode crime thriller series starring Kim Jong-un, who is most known for his roles in the K-dramas "Start-Up," "Welcome to Waikiki 2," and "100 Days My Prince," will premiere. The show's director, Park Hoon-jung, expressed confidence in Kim's abilities to play Director Choe, a character who experiences inner turmoil.
In contrast to his previous work, Kim's stern demeanor in the majority of the crime thriller's scenes is not present in this one. Kim's acting skills were also commended by Park, who said that he had always been a fan of the horror films directed by Park, especially "The Witch" and its follow-up. Cha Seung-won, Kim's fellow actor, expressed his joy at the series' shared universe with the movie franchise.
