Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans
Kendrick Lamar is set to take center stage at the NFL’s biggest event next year. The Grammy-winning rap icon will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.
The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation made the announcement on Sunday, with Lamar expressing excitement about bringing hip-hop to the championship spotlight once again. Having won 17 Grammys, Lamar previously performed during the 2022 Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Eminem.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
Lamar performed with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and 50 Cent during a spectacular Super Bowl 2022 in Los Angeles, demonstrating the strong representation of hip hop and rap.
NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky stated in a statement, "Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar."
"Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop," he said.
"We're excited to collaborate with Kendrick, (entertainment company) Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable halftime show."
Since releasing his first album, "good kid, m.A.A.d city," in 2012, Kendrick Lamar, 37, has enjoyed tremendous success. With his 2017 album "DAMN," he became the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to receive a Pulitzer Prize, and he has now amassed 17 Grammy victories.
The newest record by the rapper, "Mr. 2022 saw the release of Morale & The Big Steppers. This year, he appeared alongside Future and Metro Boomin on the song "Like That," which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. With "Not Like Us," he also achieved another smash.
