The first Taylor Swift course in the Philippines is scheduled to take place at UP Diliman next semester
Hello, friends of Swifties! It's time for you to return to school and start studying Taylor Swift. How excellent is that? studying a favorite artist of yours. I clearly recall I got jealous over a country who has a course about Taylor Swift and desired to get it here in the Philippines. And it's here at last! Why not study our mother if Taylor Swift is unable to lead the eras tour here?
The idea, creation, and performance of Taylor Swift as a superstar will be the subject of a Special Topics in Broadcasting seminar at the UP College of Mass Communication, the school announced on Thursday, January 11 on Facebook. Likeeee what? I’m sure Swifties will love the course
For the second semester of the 2023–2024 academic year, Dr. Cherish Brillon will be the instructor of the elective course entitled "Celebrity Studies: Taylor Swift in Focus" as part of the BA Broadcast Media Arts and Studies degree program.
According to Swift's interview with Philstar L!fe, Brillon will examine the connections between media and class, politics, gender, and racism in addition to critically analyzing Swift's meteoric career that has lasted for more than ten years. She will also delve into the dreams associated with success and mobility.
The pop star's tenure in the music business is a topic covered in Brillon's course, which is not the first nor the last to be presented. But given that the Philippines is known as a "Taylor Swift nation," Brillon finds it "bit surprising" that this is the first class to be held in a Philippine university.
A course on Taylor Swift's life and career is being offered by the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Mass Communication. The course will concentrate on fandom politics and activism within the Filipino context. The course is a component of a wider academic program offered by the University of the Philippines Diliman that aims to emphasize the influence of popular culture on the nation's society and culture. Swift's songwriting, commercial success, and literary achievements have all been covered in earlier courses.
And if you know Taylor, she would love us to study for sure!
