Artistic Director Ronilo Jaynario reimagines the love story of Handyong and Oryol, fusing Philippine mythology with vibrant dances inspired by Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Philippine Ballet Theater will launch their 37th season with a new full-length Filipino ballet, "Ibalon." Paulo Zarate composed unique music for the ballet, fusing elements from antiquity to provide a theatrical or cinematic impression.

The purpose of the show is to completely engross viewers in the love tale of Handyong and Oryol.

You will embark on a journey into the core of our culture and history with Matthew Davo's portrayal of the warrior Handyong and Eloisa Jessa Tangalin's portrayal of the doomed princess Oryol.

The telling of our ancestors' tales will come to life with song and dance thanks to PBT's emerging talents. Zarate and Jaynario shared a desire to make a lasting contribution to the heritage of Philippine dance. Old Filipino tales are no longer discussed, but ingenuity can change that.

A beautiful representation of our culture can be made using both new and old elements. From July 28 to July 29, 2023, PBT's "Ibalon" will be shown in the elegant Samsung Theater. The fundraising effort for the 65th Anniversary of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards will profit entirely from sales on July 29.
