Greta Gerwig, who directed "Barbie," will direct the two "Narnia" films for Netflix.

Producer Greta Gerwig, whose Margot Robbie-starring movie "Barbie" is expected to take over theaters across the world in July, will allegedly helm many "The Chronicles of Narnia" films for Netflix.

A New Yorker report claims that Gerwig has a contract with Netflix to create and helm at least two movies based on the well-known works by C. Lewis S. The Hollywood Reporter was informed by insiders that Gerwig is in fact attached to helm a "Narnia" film for Netflix.

Despite rumors about Gerwig's alleged participation, Netflix has not yet revealed any projects despite having purchased the film and television rights to "Narnia" back in 2018.

Ted Sarandos, the head of Netflix, expressed enthusiasm about the "Narnia" license purchase, saying that families have fallen in love with Aslan and the world.

Following Vietnam's prohibition on the movie due to a map depicting China's claims to land in the South China Sea, Gerwig, who is well recognized for her Oscar-nominated flicks, is deliberating on the destiny of "Barbie" in the Philippines.

"The Chronicles of Narnia" has been adapted into television series three times before in the past, while film adaptations of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe," "Prince Caspian," and "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" were released between 2005 and 2010.
