SB19 Pablo considers drinking as a kind of escape with his new song "Akala."

Leader of SB19 and principal songwriter Pablo has released a new song called "Akala," a joint effort with his brother Josue that explores the false promises made to drinkers by alcohol.

On Tuesday, January 30, the song—which has a "more laidback and dreamy vibe"—was made available on the singer-songwriter's social media and streaming accounts. Pablo released the single "Determinado" a few weeks before this

“Even though [Josue and I] have different practices in terms of drinking, we agree on the idea that alcohol is not the answer to problems,” he said in a release. “I asked him if I could also write my verse in the song and tweak some parts and he agreed.”

Pablo talked candidly about how he "rearranged the letters of alak (or wine)," which are featured in the lyrics and ultimately resulted in the title of the song "Akala."

“I didn’t want the song to just be about getting wasted, so I thought of a way to introduce my perspective by rearranging the letters of ‘alak’ and that’s how ‘Akala’ materialized. My mother also pitched in a line in the song and it made more sense,” he said.

Under the joint project Radkidz, Pablo and Josue, two musicians who produce music together, have recorded a song named "Akala" that draws inspiration from the pandemic. Josue wrote the original song, which was sung at an esports event and is meant to be easily sing-alongable. Pablo, real name John Paulo Nase, debuted as the SB19 leader in October 2018 and is presently recording a solo record.
