"I'm really excited and nervous at the same time because it's a new challenge for me. I've done a lot on stage — acting, doing a musical show — but this is my first time being the main host. So I'm really excited. I don't know how I'll do because, you know, 'krung krung' ako (I'm quirky)," Park enthused.
"But although I'm not a mentor, I'll be like an older sister to them and a friend. If they cry, I can be there to help them and remind them that they can do it," she said.
Even with her busy schedule, which includes solo projects and 2NE1's continuing "Welcome Back" tour, Park is committed to giving it her all.
"No more friends for now, no alcohol, no rest, no vacation, just focus. I'm really focusing on my work. If I have time, of course I go to massage. It's still important to stay healthy so I can do all the schedules in my best condition," shared the 40-year-old global star.
In 2024, 75 candidates chosen from worldwide tryouts will compete in the show, which is produced by TV5 and MLD Entertainment PH. These contestants, who will train hard under the direction of an amazing panel of mentors, will vie for nine coveted seats in a new boy group.
Park Woojin of AB6IX, Bang Ye-dam, Vinci of Hori7on, Hyebin (formerly of Momoland), choreographer Bae Wan Hee, producer Bullseye, and Chen of Exo are among the mentors.
Each of these mentors has an own viewpoint on what constitutes the perfect idol and contributes a wealth of expertise to the program.
Vinci, a young artist, is part of a panel of mentors for Hori7on, a new industry. He believes he can offer insights on how to navigate their dreams and use his leadership skills to guide trainees. Bullseye emphasizes the importance of balancing talent and visual appeal in K-Pop and P-Pop. The panel will air on Be the Next: 9 Dreamers, premiering on February 8.
