Rico Blanco’s Iconic Songs to Shine in Upcoming Musical ‘Liwanag sa Dilim

One shining example? Rico Blanco, whose timeless artistry is taking center stage yet again. As we gear up for the much-anticipated March 2025 debut of Liwanag sa Dilim: The Musical, it’s clear that Rico’s enduring talent continues to light up the world.

Theater production firm 9Works Theatrical revealed the musical on social media on Wednesday, December 4.

"Liwanag sa Dilim," a brand-new musical with Rico Blanco songs, will premiere in March 2025," the tweet stated.

As of the time of writing, the plot, the cast, and the songs that will be featured in the musical have not yet been disclosed.

From 1994 to 2007, Blanco gained notoriety as the lead songwriter, singer, and guitarist for the OPM rock group Rivermaya. He is regarded as one of the top rock stars in the Philippines and has made a name for himself as a solo performer since 2008.

Among his most well-known hits are "You'll Be Safe Here," "Kisapmata," "Your Universe," and "Amats."

Racal played the role of a telecaster in the music video for Rivermaya's smash song "Kisapmata," which Blanco re-released earlier this year.
