PH Set to Be 'Taylor Swift-Ready by 2028' with New Arena in Clark, Raising Hopes for a Concert
The announcement from the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) on the construction of a new stadium—which is purportedly ready for Taylor Swift's performance by 2028—went viral since it resembles a sports arena in San Diego.
An online post on X that has since been removed first revealed a picture of the slide. It has had thousands of shares and reposts on Facebook and Twitter since then. The slide appears to be a conceptual drawing of an arena complex with a muted background. The PowerPoint did not specifically say that the picture represented the actual project, even though it talked about the proposed stadium in Clark.
At the Clark Technical Working Group conference, the CIAC—whose inspiration was the San Diego Sports Arena in California—presented their idea. The Department of Tourism made it clear that they were not engaged in the presentation or the plans, and the proposal was presented without violating anyone's copyright.
“The DOT wishes to clarify erroneous information circulating online wrongly attributing to the DOT and Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco the imagery used in the presentation of CIAC President Arrey Perez for the Clark Complex in Pampanga. Neither the DOT nor Secretary Frasco were involved in the creation or delivery of these plans made and presented by Mr. Perez,” the DOT said in a statement posted an hour before CIAC’s.
Plans for the Clark Complex, which include a location for significant events like concerts, were unveiled by CIAC President Arrey Perez. The project received assistance from the Department of Tourism - Philippines, which let CIAC to share their vision without interference from the Secretary or Department of Tourism. The stadium is a part of the 37-hectare Entertainment and Events Center that was built between 2024 and 2027 as a result of a public-private collaboration close to Clark International Airport.
