NewJeans establishes a Guinness World Record for the quickest K-pop act to reach 1 billion Spotify streams.

NewJeans, a K-pop giant rookie, have set their first Guinness World Record (GWR) less than a year after making their debut.

According to GWR, the quartet hit one billion Spotify streams on March 8, or just 219 days after their debut, making them the fastest K-pop artist to reach the milestone.

GWR stated that NewJeans broke the record set by any other K-pop performer, solo or group. BLACKPINK's Lisa, the fastest female K-pop soloist to reach 1 billion Spotify streams, did so in 411 days on October 26, 2022, while BTS' Jungkook, the fastest male K-pop soloist in the category, did so in 409 days on March 27, 2023.

According to GWR, what makes NewJeans' achievement even more astounding is that the group accomplished it with only six songs accessible on Spotify - four from their first EP ("Attention," "Hype Boy," "Cookie," and "Hurt") and two singles "Ditto" and "OMG."

NewJeans are the first group under ADOR, HYBE's sub-label, headed by Min Hee-jin, who previously worked with K-pop groups such as EXO, SHINee, and Red Velvet. Their debut tracks such as "Attention" and "Hype Boy" became massive hits worldwide.
