Kai Sotto claims that his time in Hiroshima won't interfere with his commitment to the Gilas.

Kai Sotto emphasized that his time spent playing for the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the Japan B.League would not change his dedication to Gilas Pilipinas.

The 7-foot-3 center decided to concentrate on his new club team while playing for two months in Japan in order to revive his NBA dream. As a result, he missed the most recent Fiba World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers window.

However, Sotto, who played for the Adelaide 36ers for two Australian National Basketball League seasons, claimed that his brief sojourn in Japan wouldn't interfere with his obligations to the national team.

“We are not ruling out the possibility of even going out and looking for another 6-10, 6-11 guy,” Reyes said. “With all the uncertainty surrounding the Kai Sotto situation, if he is not going to make himself available, I think we have to think about that as well. I mean, that’s just part of all the planning on our plate right now.”

Kai Sotto expressed his commitment to the national team, but national team coach Chot Reyes said they may search for a tall naturalized player if Sotto is not available in the final window.
