Julia Barretto extends birthday wishes to her estranged father, Dennis Padilla, on his 62nd birthday

After years of silence, Julia finally reaches out to her father with a birthday message via text.

When Julia Barretto greeted her father Dennis Padilla on his 62nd birthday last February 9, it was a tiny yet pleasant surprise.

During a surprise press conference on the set of his new movie "When Magic Hurts," Dennis Padilla revealed getting a "short message" from Baretto. He expressed his excitement at waking up to the greetings of his estranged daughter with previous companion Marjorie Barretto.

“Noong birthday ko, nagulat din ako noong gabi na, na-receive ko ‘yung text [galing kay Julia Barretto]. Naisip ko, number pa pala niya ‘to. Hindi [ko inaasahan] makatanggap kasi ilang years na rin,” he said.

The actor revealed that, despite the tiny gesture, he was so happy to receive Barretto's text message that he first decided not to share any information about it. Even though their chat was short, it nevertheless made him feel something.

“Nag-text lang siya, may short message siya d’un tas sumagot ako t’as meron din akong short message. Tapos ang sinagot niya sa’kin ay heart [emoji] so ang sinagot ko ay heart din,” he said. “Actually, hindi ko alam, bigla na lang tumulo ang luha ko.”

In response to a question about whether he believed his other two children with Marjorie, Claudia and Leon, may have known their sister would be messaging him, Padilla acknowledged that it's possible they knew about their sister's actions as well.

The Filipino actor Ate Padilla has disclosed that Claudia and Leon, his daughters, were aware that Ate had texted their father. Padilla thinks her message was the nicest birthday present he's ever gotten, but he's not authorized to share the specifics of their brief conversation.

He thinks he should practice communicating with his kids in private and see if they will reply. Barretto has not yet responded to Padilla's brief interview, and the latter has stated that he hopes to visit and speak with his daughter in February. Barretto has kept quiet about everything pertaining to her family.
