Immigration reveals that Liza Soberano's manager Jeffrey Oh is being held
The imprisonment of Jeffrey Oh, CEO of the indie record label Careless and former manager of the American actress Liza Soberano, has been officially confirmed by the Bureau of Immigration.
Following news of Oh's detention in Makati last week, immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval made the announcement during a segment of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, August 8.
In response to a request for comment, Sandoval shared information with INQUIRER.net that the 34-year-old Oh was detained in Barangay Poblacion in Makati on July 28 for allegedly "engaging in gainful employment" without the proper paperwork to run a business in the nation.
“A complaint lodged with the BI reported the American [Oh] to have presented himself as the CEO of a Manila-based company, as well as the owner of several restaurants, without acquiring the necessary visas or permits,” the report said, adding that this violates Philippine immigration laws.
James Reid, the CEO of Careless, and Jeffrey Oh, a 34-year-old Korean-American business partner, were both detained in the Philippines for failing to present the required alien work permits. Due to a lack of work permits, Oh, a restaurant and club lounge owner in Makati, was detained.
Dana Sandoval, a spokesman for the Bureau of Immigration, confirmed the arrest but chose not to address the allegation. Fermin's assertions are supported by Oh's imprisonment, but the BI hasn't verified Reid's father's participation in the case. Regarding Oh's arrest and confinement, Careless has not released a statement.
