From Fanfiction to Feature Film: The Love Hypothesis Gets the Hollywood Treatment
A beloved romance novel is making the leap from page to screen. The Love Hypothesis, a bestselling book that began as a Star Wars fanfiction, is set to be adapted into a feature film.
MRC Film's romance label, Bisous Pictures, has partnered with author Ali Hazelwood to bring Olive and Adam's love story to the big screen.
Producer and Bisous Pictures principal Elizabeth Cantillon emphasized that the company is "ecstatic to be working with Ali to amplify her voice and bring this magical book to the screen."
According to Hazelwood, "It’s a true privilege to have Elizabeth and such a talented and experienced team of people working on adapting The Love Hypothesis, and I’m very excited for this next step in Olive and Adam’s story."
In order to make her best friend believe that she is having a nice dating life, Olive Smith, a third-year Ph.D. candidate, pretends to be in a relationship with her youthful lecturer Adam Carlsen. The novel was published in 2021.
Initially released as a work of Star Wars fan fiction, The Love Hypothesis centers on a fictitious romance between Rey and Kylo Ren, portrayed by Daisey Ridley and Adam Driver. The figures served as the inspiration for the book's cover image, even though they were renamed Olive and Adam. It has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list for 39 weeks and has gotten good reviews.
The cast, director, and release date of the movie adaption are still unknown.
