'Bionic' Cliff Hodge overcomes terrifying fall to lead Meralco to victory in PBA semifinals

In Sunday's hard-fought Game 2 victory over TNT, Cliff Hodge overcame a frightening situation during a pivotal moment, earning himself a moniker from coach Norman Black immediately after the shoot.

Black referred to Hodge as "a bionic man" after Hodge played a crucial part in the Bolts' 124-117 overtime victory over the TNT Tropang Giga, which tied their PBA Governors' Cup semifinal series at 1-1 after the back of Hodge's head struck the floor in the final seconds of regulation.

Hodge led Meralco to victory after the team suffered a 110-80 loss in the first game by scoring the first four points of the extra session. Hodge then focused on the defensive end, particularly guarding TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

The All-Defensive Team member from the previous year, who is well known for his gung-ho demeanor and ability to play the blue collar guy for Meralco, finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Since being selected by the Meralco team in the 2012 draft, Hodge's playing style has remained constant, and even he is surprised that he has been able to avoid suffering serious injuries.

Hodge is willing to sacrifice anything to get to the next level and win a championship for Meralco.
