Are you a vegan or just started to be one and miss the taste of barbecue? Miss no more because this plant based barbecue is for everyone to enjoy. The Vegetarian Kitchen’s (TVK) Vegan Pinoy-style Barbecue is what we need on every occasion!

For the marinade, TVK creates its own blend of lime soda, soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, cane vinegar, dark brown sugar, banana ketchup, salt, and pepper. Rehydrating soy protein by boiling it to a firm consistency and washing it until the aftertaste is gone is part of the process. It is marinated for 2 days and just like the barbecue, it was put in bamboo skewers and grilled normally. Don’t forget that it is glazed with oil and the marinade.

“The general feedback is that it ‘tastes like meat’ or ‘are you sure this isn’t pork?’ Most of our customers appreciate that they can eat as much as they want without worrying about the cholesterol. They say it goes well with rice as well as a pulutan,” Tita added, which is true!

The Pinoy-Style Barbecue at The Vegetarian Kitchen costs P80 per ala carte stick. It can also be served as a main course with ensaladang talong brown rice. A Half Party Tray for 10 sticks costs P620, and a Whole Party Tray for 20 sticks costs P1,180. A 300-gram frozen pack of six skewers is also available.
