Sorbetes appears to have surpassed gelato in the most recent TasteAtlas rankings.
Filipino Delicacies are topping the chart and appreciated not only by us but worldwide. Our own "dirty ice cream" came in fifth on TasteAtlas' recently published Best Frozen Desserts in the World list, beating off milkshakes from America, patbingsu from Korea, and even gelato and affogato from Italy.
The "world food atlas," known for chronicling meals from across the world that users may browse and evaluate from one ("I hate it") to five ("I like it") stars, issued an updated Best Frozen Desserts in the global list and an associated social-media post on May 31.
After Iran's bastani sonnati, Peru's queso helado, Turkey's dondurma, and the United States' frozen custard (at first, second, third, and fourth place, respectively), the Philippines' sorbetes—described as a "popular Filipino ice cream" flavored with "mango, chocolate, cheese, coconut, and purple yam"—takes fifth place.
TasteAtlas food rankings are based on TasteAtlas audience ratings, including methods that distinguish actual users and disregard bot, nationalist, or local patriotic ratings. There were 4,426 ratings registered for the '50 Best Rated Frozen Desserts in the World' list, of which 3,386 were accepted as valid. There are several listings for various types of gelato, but just one for frozen custard.
TasteAtlas monitors visitor behavior and votes, and some votes are flagged as illegitimate. In 2022, they also produced a World Cuisines Ranking list based on the average ranking of the 30 finest meals, drinks, and culinary products in that nation. The goal of the TasteAtlas Rankings is to promote good local meals, build pride in traditional dishes, and pique people's interest in new foods.
