The massive support of Filipino fans brought Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios to tears during the parade at Mall of Asia.
The overwhelming love Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios received from her Filipino admirers brought tears to her eyes during her homecoming procession in Pasay City, Philippines. She waved to the throng and smiled despite the scorching heat.
Perched atop a convertible adorned with flowers patterned after the Philippine flag, the Nicaraguan beauty exuded queenly splendor while donning a crimson ball gown with a bustier and elaborate beading. Following a marching band, thousands of her devoted "subjects" eagerly lined up along the parade route to catch a glimpse of her.
Palacios was invited to Manila by the Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH), which organized a parade labeled a "homecoming" to show her that she could call the nation her home and to provide her with the experiences she had yet to have.
After she became the first Miss Universe winner from Nicaragua, tensions arose between her national pageant organizer and President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua, preventing her from returning home. Additionally, her team was denied entry into the nation of Central America.
She pulled out a Nicaraguan flag halfway through the procession, gripping it tightly to her face and breast as she sobbed once more. After that, she placed the flag on the train of her gown and carried on giving back to the admirers who were yelling, "Sheynnis!" and "Nicaragua!" by answering with "I love you" and "thank you."
Sheynnis Palacios-Cornejo, the current Miss Universe 2023, landed in the Philippines on May 1 for her Asian trip, which also included stops in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China. She thanked everyone for welcoming her to the Philippines and conveyed her thanks for the support she and the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) received from the public. The pageant, according to Palacios, is a forum to promote variety and beauty in contemporary society rather than merely being a beauty contest. On May 7, she is expected to depart and travel to India.
