Ramen Nagi shares the keys to his 10-year Filipino success.
Over 10 million bowls of ramen have been served by the Japanese restaurant chain Ramen Nagi in the Philippines over the last ten years, and the company has plans to expand into the Visayas and Mindanao. During the celebration of their tenth anniversary, Chef Satoshi Ikuta shared the ingredients of success.
“What makes us successful in the past 10 years is because we bring all the original ingredients that we have in Japan. We didn’t align it with the Filipino taste. We brought the original Japanese taste,” Ikuta explained via an interpreter.
Ikuta claims that another factor in their success is their ramen customization sheet, which servers give to patrons to complete so they can "personalize" their bowl of ramen to their preferences.
Over the past ten years, Ikuta's ramen chain has grown in popularity thanks to its authentic Japanese flavor, customizable options, diversity, and consistency. They use authentic Japanese ingredients and provide consumers with a ramen customization sheet so they can customize their bowls. Additionally, they keep things consistent by making yearly inspections and personally visiting every store to make sure the cooks aren't changing the recipes.
“We always make sure that everyone complies to our standards,” he assured customers.
“We made sure that the ambience of the shop will make you feel hungry. That is the most important,” enthused Ikuta, who opened the brand as a small ramen house in Fukuoka, Japan in 2006.
Ikuta intends to refine all of their restaurants with an emphasis on consistency, hoping to match the initial store's brilliance in SM Aura.
