Starbucks Has Updated Their Policies Regarding PWD and Senior Citizen Discounts

In order to maximize their legal discounts, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) must schedule their purchases at Starbucks Philippines locations.

The international coffee chain's local franchise, which is owned by Tantoco, declared that as of January 15, 2024, senior citizens and people with disabilities could only receive one meal item and drink per visit while qualifying for the 20% discount.

The senior citizen or PWD ID that the person using the discount is claiming must be shown at the counter. Proxies are not permitted to be used to claim the discount.

Under Republic Act 9994, also known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, senior citizens are entitled to a 20% discount and are exempt from value added tax at restaurants. PWDs are required to receive the same benefit under RA 10754.
