Turon and Maruya are included in the top 50 best deep fried dessert in the World
Turon and Maruya are not just your ordinary deep fried bananas because they are now on the top 50 best deep fried foods around the world according to Atlas.
Turon and maruya were ranked 21 and 36, respectively, in Taste Atlas' list of the top 50 best deep-fried desserts in the world. The number one item on the list is Indonesia's pisang goreng, which is made with ingredients like bananas, flour, sugar, and vanilla extract.
Turon is referred to as "falling in the group of popular lumpia snacks" and has a coating of brown sugar, caramel, and roasted sesame seeds on the Taste Atlas website. The opposite is true of maruya, which is referred to as a "light snack, sweet breakfast, or a filling afternoon dessert."
In the website's ranking of the 50 best street foods back in September of last year, the Filipino party staple lumpiang shanghai came in at number two, while tortang talong was named the best egg dish in the world the month before.
It was indeed a great feeling that Filipino dishes are now loved by many. What are your favorite Filipino dishes? Share it below
