Spanish cuisine and flair are introduced to the island by the new restaurant Chiringuito.

Metro Manila favorites, such as Barcino, the well-known Spanish place for tapas and free-flowing sangria, have been finding their way to the island as the tropical paradise develops.

With the new Chiringuito by Barcino, located at The Shoppes at Station B in Station 1, a newly-opened shopping complex on the main road, Barcino has adopted a new identity and a younger, beach-centric image.

Chiringuito, which debuted in February, provides typical Spanish breakfast, lunch, and supper everyday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and until 12 a.m. on weekends. It has a more relaxed yet celebratory air than its predecessor, making it ideal for island nightlife.

The circular restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with a bar and a view of the golf course, but no beachfront or sunset views.

Chiringuito's more simplified menu gives a new perspective to Barcino, with fewer items than at home but a few stalwarts, some with a subtle tweak. Prices are comparable or somewhat higher here, owing primarily to delivery costs, but serving sizes remain suitable for two.

Spanish restaurants aren't exactly cheap, but if you're going to splurge, set aside at least P2,000 for two people.

Chiringuito is located a long distance from the main beach and the majority of the island's daily foot traffic. A three-minute bike ride is required to arrive to The Shoppes. Canyon Hotels & Resorts is a good option for a low-cost hotel at Station 1. The four-story hotel isn't very nice, but it's enough for the price and service. The resto-bar occasionally features live DJ sets and musical acts, so keep an eye on Chiringuito's Instagram page for future updates.
