Local police were asked by a young girl to examine some leftover cookies for Santa's DNA.
Kids are indeed clever, they say things that capture our hearts and things that make us think. One of those questions is how a flower grows, who is Santa Claus and why do we need to message him. This truly made us think and question them on how they come up with these questions. With her request for a local police department, one young girl has taken her nagging suspicion of Santa to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation levels.
According to NPR, the young girl wrote to the Cumberland Police Department in Rhode Island, requesting that they test a sample she enclosed to determine whether Santa Claus is real. As DNA samples, the young detective included a cookie and carrots.
"Dear Cumberland Police dapartment, I took a sample of a cookie and carrots that I left for Santa and the raindeer on Christmas Eve and was wondering if you could take a sample of DNA and see if Santa is real," she asked in her letter.
The Cumberland Police Department's Facebook post, which was accompanied by a press release, included photos of the cookie and carrots neatly packaged in Ziploc bags.
The Cumberland Police Department did provide her with previously uncovered evidence to hold her over while they worked to run the DNA test. That evidence included a photograph of a possible reindeer, complete with antlers.
