Suspending weekend operations, LRT-1 is preparing for the Cavite extension Phase 1 launch.

Light Rail Manila Corp. intends to hasten preparations for Cavite Extension Phase 1's anticipated opening in Q4 2024 by suspending LRT-1 operations for three weekends in August.

The following weekends will see a temporary suspension of LRT-1 train services:

August 17–18

August 24–25

From August 31 to September 1

The current LRT-1 system with the Cavite Extension, a crucial step for safe and effective operations, necessitated the shutdown of the Fernando Poe Jr. Station to Baclaran Station, as announced by LRT-1 operator LRMC.

LRMC suggests that commuters use jeepneys and the EDSA Carousel as alternate modes of transportation and schedule their travels in advance. An initial fleet of 38 buses has been prepared by LTFRB for the weekend closure of LRT-1.

"Handa na po kami nandyan na po yung mga units na gagamitin nitong mga weekends. Meron na po kaming mga dinesignate na mga buses sa mga areas na hindi tatakbo ang LRT ng ilang araw para kami naman yung pupuno sa mga hindi magampanan ng LRT," Guadiz said.
