Some highways in Manila are closed on Chinese New Year's Day.
If you are going out this Chinese New year and driving you need to know this because some highways are closed. A few Metro Manila highways will be closed in advance of Sunday's Chinese New Year celebration.
The public information office (PIO) in Manila issued an advisory stating that the northbound side of Jones Bridge will close at 10 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, and the southbound side will close at 7 p.m. on the same day.
This is to make room for Jones Bridge's Chinese New Year Pyromusical countdown.
Simultaneously, Banawe Street will be blocked from 9 p.m. on January 21 to 9 p.m. on January 22, spanning from Cuenco Street to Quezon Avenue.
Because of the large number of people attending the celebrations, the public is recommended to choose different routes and prepare for delayed traffic.
It is recommended that drivers take a right on Biak na Bato street, a left on Dapitan street, a left on Cordillera street, and a right on Quezon Avenue.
They can also go left on Maria Clara street, right on Biak na Bato street, and left on D. Then return to Quezon Avenue via Tuazon Street.
