300 Bilibid inmates are transported to Palawan jail.
In an effort to declutter the prison, BuCor moved 300 NBP inmates from Muntinlupa City's New Bilibid Prison to Penal Farm and Iwahig Prison in Palawan.
“The transfer of PDLs was part of the decongestion program of BuCor director general Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr.,” BuCor said in a statement, referring to persons deprived of liberty.
In order to transform the NBP into a government hub, all inmates are anticipated to be released by 2028.
2,009 prisoners from the NBP and the Mandaluyong City Correctional Institution for Women have reportedly been transferred thus far, according to Catapang.
Of this total, 562 were sent to Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro, 500 to Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, and 947 were sent to Iwahig.

Technology could minimize courtroom delays and boost productivity. Given that 386 percent of detention facilities are overcrowded, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo hopes that new reforms will address the cruel conditions that inmates face.
