Leila requests an investigation into the hitman's allegation against Rody.
Former Senator Leila de Lima has asked for a thorough inquiry into self-proclaimed hitman Arturo Lascaas' claim that former President Rodrigo Duterte is the "lord of all drug lords" in Mindanao, citing three suspected shabu laboratories linked to Duterte.
“He launched a supposed war on drugs where thousands were killed, and he even set a three- to six-month ultimatum, but it turns out he was involved in drug syndicates,” De Lima said in a statement yesterday.
“They won’t catch true and big-time drug lords because they protect them and they are in cahoots,” she added.
De Lima, who was recently released from prison on trumped-up drug charges, claimed she was used as a "distraction" from Duterte's alleged drug participation.
"With many people killed and Duterte's widespread lies, they can no longer hide this," the former senator stated.
De Lima was accused by the Duterte administration of tolerating and profiting from the illegal drug trade while serving as Justice Secretary from May 2013 to May 2015. She allegedly used drug money to fund her 2016 Senate campaign.
Two of De Lima's three cases have been rejected, one by demurrer to evidence in February 2021 and the other by lack of merit in May of this year.
