5 LRT1 Cavite stations are under construction, with an expected opening date of 2024.
According to an official on Tuesday, October 10, the first five stations in the province of Cavite being built as part of an expanded Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) remain on track.
Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) President and CEO Juan F. Alfonso indicated that the project, which began development in September 2019 for both civil and rail system works, has already reached 82.7 percent completion as of March 2023.
Alfonso estimates that the project will be able to complete the five Cavite stations by the fourth quarter of 2024. He stated that Metro Manila will witness improved traffic as additional railroads become available, with the goal of making commuting easier and more convenient across the metro.
Alfonso acknowledges right-of-way issues in railway development, but argues that collaboration between the government and the private sector is ongoing. Despite the legal authority to pass through property, LRMC has committed over P30 billion in refurbishing LRT-1 stations in Cavite.
