Filipinos can now enter Taiwan without a visa until July 31, 2024.

Thailand and Brunei citizens as well as nationals of the Philippines are now able to enter Taiwan without a visa for an additional year.

The visa-free benefit now lasts through July 31, 2024 instead of its original July 31, 2023 expiration date. The necessity to renew bilateral interactions in the post-pandemic period was cited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), which confirmed the extension on Friday.

"After evaluating the effectiveness of the above convenience measures over the past years and considering the need to revive mutual bilateral exchanges and tourism in the post-pandemic era, participating agencies decided to extend the trial visa-free entry measure for one year for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024," MOFA said.


Filipino visitors must meet some prerequisites before to their journey in order to benefit from visa-free admission.

These include supplying documentation of their lodging, the names and contact information of their host or sponsor in Taiwan, and enough money for their travel and living expenses Filipino visitors visiting Taiwan are permitted a stay of up to 14 days under the visa waiver scheme. However, anyone with diplomatic, official, or service passports are not permitted admission without a visa.


In 2023, Taiwan hopes to bring in more than 320,000 tourists from the Philippines as part of its ongoing tourism revival efforts.
