To end the party-list system, Sen. Robinhood Padilla supported various proposals.
Sen. Robinhood Padilla supported plans to do away with the party-list system on Sunday, calling it "corrupt" and no longer relevant.
The senator wanted to make the party system stronger to break the cycle of people voting for candidates on the basis of popularity and wealth.
Despite maintaining that changing the economic provisions of the Constitution through a constituent assembly should come first, Padilla said he is not opposed to changing the political provisions of the Constitution through a constitutional convention.
"To be honest, if we want to reform politics in the Philippines, we should strengthen our party system," the senator said.
"We should end the cycle of voting for candidates on the basis of popularity or wealth. Instead, we can vote on the basis of advocacies and positions," he added.
