The coronavirus pandemic is making everyone stay at home and it’s getting us more than we thought it would. People are starting to actually get tired of eating and sleeping for most of the time. Most of us are starting to get bored and run out of ideas on what to do during the coronavirus lockdown. Most of us have computers to work on while working from home, but some only have their phones as a source of entertainment these days.

Like most of the people today, 15-year-old Erin Sloan of Winsford, Cheshire got tired and bored of scrolling through her mobile phone to pass through the day. She came up with the idea to transform one of her bedroom walls to a whopping 8-feet long climbing wall to have herself some physical activity to do. It only took Sloan a week to finish her climbing wall but said she could’ve finished it in a day if she hadn’t need to wait for some materials.

Sloan was inspired to build her own climbing wall after the coronavirus pandemic forced the North West Face climbing center to close down for the moment. The said climbing center is where she is currently working as an instructor and where she has been climbing for the past four years.

Sloan shared that her parents knew she could actually do it and were proud of the little project she’s done by herself. Most importantly, she was proud of herself when it was finished.

Most importantly, the brave young woman hopes to help smash gender stereotypes through her talent on climbing. “I am a girl and climbing is not a female-dominated sport. That is something that drew me to do this,” said Erin. We do believe in that because what a man can do a woman can do better, right?

This pandemic, however, isn’t a productivity contest. Take this moment to focus on yourself and the people around you. Do what makes you heal—mentally and physically.

Let Erin Sloan be a reminder that you are capable of doing things even if it means doing things alone! The Erin Sloan is just one of the few lighter news amidst the coronavirus situation.
