Sara Duterte has resigned from her position at Lakas-CMD.
Duterte stated that she was chosen by the people as a result of Filipinos' faith in her to govern and serve the nation, and that this should not be "poisoned by political toxicity or undermined by execrable political powerplay."
However, she remained grateful to all party members for their support, stressing that unity was possible "to advance our shared dreams for our fellow Filipinos and our beloved country."
She stated that she will continue to serve Filipinos and the Philippines under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
"Trust that my word, my commitment will be immutable."
She asked all leaders to "focus on the work that must be done and leave a legacy of a strong and stable homeland."
Duterte has been the party chairperson of Lakas-CMD since December 2021, and she utilized the party as a vehicle for her vice presidential run.
She is still the chairman of her indigenous party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
