Primary care providers get P257 million from PhilHealth.
As part of its initial tranche of capitation payments to primary care provider networks, PhilHealth has issued over P257 million to support the countrywide implementation of its comprehensive outpatient benefits package, Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama.
According to a "sandbox" setup, PhilHealth had paid capitation monies to four of the first seven PCPNs as of Wednesday. An experimental environment known as a "sandbox" permits pre-selected locations to accept upfront payments or advances of monies prior to the provision of services.
The amounts listed were for the local governments of South Cotabato (P53.9 million), Bataan (P114.7 million), Baguio City (P15.9 million), and Quezon province (P72.9 million).
In addition to QualiMed and LiFE Group, two private health care providers, the local government of Guimaras province served as the additional PCPNs.
Primary care physicians can now mobilize resources and ground staff to better serve patients, particularly in marginalized locations and vulnerable populations, thanks to funding advances from PhilHealth. The first round of releases will speed up member recruitment and streamline patient care.
