Poison Doughnuts on the go, please!

So much has been done for the love of doughnuts. Before, it was just a deep-fried chunk of pastry bathing in white sugar but now, there is every sort of doughnut you can have. From matcha to sriracha (yes!), and even root beer float-flavored, doughnuts are treats that can satisfy every craving you ever have. With a lot withstanding competitors, the doughnut business is still open for the creative foodies out there who want to bring something new on the table.

This is what the moody, little café along the The Alley at Karrivin Plaza called Poison, is serving us. Poison is a product of three companies: Tasteless for the menu, Hydra for the overall design, and La Marzocco for its espresso machine. Their premium doughnuts are handmade by whiz kids Miko Aspiras and Kristine Lotilla of Le Petite Souffle and Scout’s Honor.

Poison is known for their variety but their seven core brioche sourdough made flavors are guaranteed to be deadly delicious such as Vanilla Glaze, Salted Dark Chocolate, Garam Masala, Blueberry Glaze, Blueberry Lemon, Egg Custard Brulee, and Boston Cream.

According to an article by NoliSoli, the combination of the brioche and sourdough creates a denser and fuller pastry letting you bite more. Professional—and so good at it—doughnut wizard Lotilla even said that the dough takes a day to rise to ensure its quality and that each batch is made fresh from scratch.

The Poison hideout reflects the doughnuts it serves. It is gritty, personal, and mysterious—like a Scorpio ascending from Venus. Designer Dan Matutina of Hydra Design Group said that the feel of the café is somewhere in the cyberpunk dystopian future.
