Philippine instances of COVID-19 increased by 12,426 over the preceding week
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 12,426 new COVID-19 infections from May 15 to 21, a little rise over the previous week's total of 12,414 cases.
According to the DOH's weekly report, the new infections equate to a daily average of 1,775 cases, or 0.01 percent more than the 1,773 daily average cases documented from May 8 to 14.
87 infections, or 0.70 percent, were classified as critical or severe, with 486 active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions.
In addition, the DOH reported 13 more fatalities.
Despite the increase in infections, ICU bed occupancy declined from 18.8 to 18.2 percent during the same time, while non-ICU bed utilization grew from 21.7 to 23.0 percent.
As of May 21, the Philippines has reported 4,127,268 cases, with 4,044,740 recoveries and 66,466 fatalities, according to the DOH's online COVID-19 tracker.
There are now 16,422 active cases in the United States.
