NDRRMC: Mindanao floods and landslides cause P738M in infrastructure damage
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported on Sunday that flooding and landslides in Mindanao resulted in infrastructure damage worth approximately P738.6 million.
The most recent NDRRMC report projected that the infrastructure damage in the Davao and Caraga regions was P265.6 million and P473 million, respectively.
In Northern Mindanao, the Davao Region, and Caraga, unceasing rains caused landslides and floods that caused damage to about 1,344 homes.
Over 1.38 million people in the southern Philippines were affected, according to the NDRRMC, and 352,272 of them had to leave their homes.
Floods and landslides are said to have killed 22 people, according to the disaster agency's report. Two individuals were reported missing and 11 injured.
A landslide near Apex Mining Co. in Maco town, Davao de Oro, buried 55 residences and a bus terminal, and left 37 people dead, 32 injured, and 63 missing. Assistance totaled P169.2 million.
