LPA East of Mindanao Likely to Develop Into Tropical Depression, Says Pagasa

East of Mindanao, 2,400 kilometers from the Philippine mainland, a low-pressure area (LPA) has formed. This area has a high likelihood of turning into a tropical depression.

“Within the next 24 hours, mataas ang tsansa na ito ay magiging isang tropical depression or mahinang bagyo but within the next three days po ay malayo pa rin ito sa ating kalupaan at walang inaasahang direktang epekto sa ating bansa,” Estareja explained.

The LPA may move into the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) early next week, thus the state meteorological service said it will keep an eye on it.

“Patuloy ang ating magiging monitoring for this low pressure area dahil possible rin itong pumasok ng ating PAR early next week,” Estareja said.

The public was also urged by Pagasa to remain informed about any new weather advisories.

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine is currently over the Cordillera Administrative Region and is moving westward across northern Luzon at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour (kph), according to a supplementary dispatch from Pagasa.
