IATF allowing Back riders starting July 10 but strictly for Couples ONLY.

Transportation is limited. We are forced to buy a bike, electric scooter, or walk. This may be good news to some but not for all. The Government Task Force is now allowing pillion riding starting June 10, 2020.

As we want to stop COVID-19 we need to face the truth that there is no cure. There are 50,000 positives in COVID-19 in the Philippines it will increase every day. Most of us are back on their jobs and some are still unemployed. Sadly, we need to accept this new normal it is hard to commute these days there are few buses, jeeps, FX. We need to practice social distancing so in a vehicle it reduces into half to avoid being crowded. Some of us bought bikes, electric scooters, and most of us walk just to go to work since they not allowing pillion riding on motorcycles. The Government Task Force is now allowing pillion riding starting June 10, 2020.

“Simula bukas, papayagan na natin yung backriding sa mga couple at yung prototype model na sinumbmit ni (Bohol) Gov. Arthur Yap, approved na yan ng NTF (National Task Force) at ito yung prototype na gagamitin natin,” Año, vice chairman of the Inter Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID), said in a  Teleradyo interview.

(Starting tomorrow, we will allow motorcycle back-riding for couples, and the prototype model that was submitted by Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap, was approved by the NTF and this is the prototype that we will be using.)

The model, which allows passengers behind motorcycle drivers, has dividers and handles between the riders and passengers to contain the spread of COVID-19, Año said.

“May barrier between rider and passenger pagkatapos may handle sa side nung barrier at the same time kailangan mag wear ng mask at nakahelmet yung rider at passenger,” he said.

(There is a barrier between rider and passenger then there is a handle on the side of the barrier at the same time they need to wear a mask and helmet.)

Año said couples are either married individuals or non-married couples with the same address.

Couples may present identification cards (IDs) as proof, Año said.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque previously announced that the government will soon allow pillion riding with guidelines drafted by the National Task Force against COVID-19

This is good news but it will have a lot of complications too we will see it in the following days. Also, I hope they allow not just married couples or partners. It is better if they allow Father and son, father and daughter, and so on since they are in the same house also. Lastly, it would be better to bring back a ride-sharing motorcycle that is most convenient for most commuters. It is also cheaper but for now, we need to wait for the government task force for their next step.
