Heat index may exceed 40 degrees Celsius on Friday, according to Pagasa.

Feels like we are walking on fire because of the heat. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the heat index could reach 40°C or higher on Friday in some areas of the nation.

“Sa tanghali, asahan ‘yung pinakamatataas po na temperatura natin ay nasa around 34-35°C sa ilang lugar, ‘yung ating tinatawag na air temperature. But yung heat index na tinatawag— o yung nararamdaman init ng ating katawan— ay posible pa ring umabot sa higit 40°C,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.

Estareja predicts a heat index of 40°C and above in Visayas, Mindanao, and Bangsamoro this weekend due to easterlies of warm wind from the Pacific Ocean. Rain showers are expected in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Bangsamoro.
