Government of Bohol seeks truth in the development of Chocolate Hills

Bohol is famous for its iconic Chocolate Hills, which we cherish dearly. However, the prospect of a resort being situated amidst these natural wonders raises some concerns. The Government of Bohol is eager to uncover the truth about who approved the construction of the resort

The resort's ability to proceed with development despite not having the necessary documents to start civil works was questioned by the provincial authorities. The Environment Certificate of Compliance (ECC) was one of them.

Bohol province conducted an investigation in 2018 and obtained land titles, DENR, and PAMB approvals; nonetheless, they were temporarily closed because of a lack of ECC.

Due to a deficiency in environmental law enforcement, Bohol Governor Aumentado has ordered the closure of a resort located in the nation's Unesco Geopark, the Chocolate Hills. Without sending a copy of the temporary closure orders to Jammie Villamor, the provincial government, or the investigative team, the DENR issued them. Additionally, the governor has asked the DENR to work with local administrations to organize Bohol's protected areas. The province is thinking of passing a law that would forbid building establishments in protected zones.
