Following the Oriental Mindoro oil spill, the government provides at least P20 million in aid.

The Philippine government has distributed P20 million in cash aid to residents affected by the oil spill, including P18,842,150 from local government units, P464,940 from nongovernmental organizations, and P755,780 from private individuals and businesses.

To date, 70 fishermen have been stationed in Barangay Batuhan, Pola, Oriental Mindoro, gathering resources that will be used to create oil absorbent materials and improvised spill booms.

For 15 days, each beneficiary will be paid the minimum wage for their assistance in cleaning up the oil spill.

The Philippine Coast Guard has assigned the oil spill a Tier 2 spill classification. This indicates that the spill is of a greater size and necessitates a government response.

Foreign coast guards and experts have expressed their willingness to help contain the spill caused by MT Princess Empress, which was carrying 800,000 liters of industrial oil.
