End of the school year 2023–2024 is set by DepEd for May 31.

Early school year termination in 2023–2024 was planned by the Department of Education (DepEd), in order to progressively return to the previous academic calendar with April–May as the summer break.

With the signing of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte's Department Order 003 dated February 19, 2024, the EOSY has been rescheduled for May 31, 2024.

Starting on July 29, 2024, and ending on May 16, 2025, is the schedule for the SY 2024–2025.

Accordingly, the entire summer vacation—June 1 through July 28—will fall within this year's school break. June 17 to August 25, 2024 was the prior break date that DepEd had scheduled.

The "slow" resumption of the pre-pandemic school calendar is what Undersecretary Michael Poa, a DepEd official, explained in an ambush interview.

With the intention of compromising students' school days and facilitating instructors' ability to teach all competences, the Department of Education (DepEd) has announced a gradual move to the April-May vacation. There will be 179 school days in the current academic year, and the April break may start at the conclusion of the 2026–2027 school year. The exam for the third quarter will now take place on March 25–26, while the exam for the fourth quarter will take place on May 16–17.

During the June 1–30 break, the school will make sure that teachers are assigned non-voluntary or required tasks. Before the April–May break resumes, the school will need at least three years.
