Comelec will use Malls for CoC filing

COC filling is just around the corner and a new leader will be appointed. Are you ready to run as the next leader of your Barangay? There is a bit of changes in filling, just so you know.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will utilize off-site venues like malls and other big spaces for the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) in the upcoming 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

This will only be allowed if there is a large volume of filers that the concerned Comelec local office could no longer accommodate. The Commission has instructed all election officers to look for appropriate venues that can accommodate the volume of people during the six-day filing of CoC.

There are 42,207 barangay throughout the country and each barangay will elect a captain, seven of eight members of the Sangguniang Barangay or Village Council, and seven SK councilors. The filing of CoC for village and youth polls will be moved from July 3 to 7 to August 28 to Sept. 2, 2023.
