According to a study, nose-picking may cause Alzheimer's.

I know some of us love  to pick on their nose. It is a habit for most of us but this can lead us into a serious matter later on because Scientists are now giving serious thought to the activity's increased risk of Alzheimer's disease development. Yup! You read it right it is a serious matter people!

If you have no idea what Alzheimer's is Alzhaimer is the  most prevalent kind of dementia. As a degenerative disease, it would first cause just little memory loss before getting worse to the point where it becomes difficult to converse and communicate.

Why nose-picking is something you should be aware of and why it can affect Alzheimer's?

Because the brain and the olfactory system are closely related, nose-picking, albeit harmless, can lead to Alzheimer's disease. Neuroinflammation is one way that drugs that cause Alzheimer's disease might get into the nasal cavity through the olfactory system. This is because picking one's nose upsets the balance of the microbiome, weakening the body's defenses.

The study's authors claim that there are numerous elements that contribute to Alzheimer's disease etiology, and neuroinflammation is one of these causes. One of them that can quickly cause inflammation in the brain is nose-picking. Our fingertips are directed toward the brain first. Second, removing things from our noses alters the balance of the microbiome, making the body's barrier less efficient.

Prior research has demonstrated the possibility of COVID-19 and Alzheimer's patients contracting infections by nose-picking, with nasal epithelium degradation raising the risk of infection. Alzheimer's patients have viruses, and the olfactory bulb shows early symptoms of these infections. Research on the connection between Alzheimer's development and the nose is still in progress, but it's obvious that germs and viruses can get in if hygiene isn't maintained.
