With a request for site blocking, IPOPHL targets the torrent site YTS.
Citing instances of copyright infringement or piracy, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has filed a request to prohibit access to 11 of YTS's domains and subdomains.
The domains were yts.mx, yts.rs, yts.do, ytsuproxy.to, yts.dirproxy.com, yts.unblocked.love, ytssss.jamsbase.com, yts.lt, yts.ag, yts.am, and torrents.yts.rs.
“A thorough examination reveals that all of the aforementioned websites are hosting pirated versions of movies or TV shows, allowing users to access these illegal copies by downloading them through links on the same website or by streaming them online,” the IEO decision read.
The World Intellectual Property Organization's data-sharing network on piracy contains records of the websites, according to the judgment.
Around 4,500 film titles are pirated on YTS, the site that hosts YIFY, according to a 2015 assessment by the Motion Picture Association of America. YTS is notorious for pirating copyrighted movies. Internet service providers are required by the National Telecommunications Commission to prohibit YTS websites.
