Paul McCartney claims that The Beatles will employ AI to release their "final record" this year.
If you grew up listening to the Beatles with your family, well you better stick around because this news will make you jump for joy.
Over 50 years have passed since The Beatles' moving classic song "The End," featuring all four of the band members, was released. Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are the only two members of the Beatles left, but the group is planning a comeback.
According to McCartney, the "final Beatles record" will be made utilizing John Lennon's voice that was "extracted" from an old tape using artificial intelligence (AI).
Although he hasn't yet given the song a name, the BBC reports that it's probably Now And Then, a song written by John Lennon in 1978.
'We just finished it up and it'll be published this year,' McCartney said in a statement to Radio 4's Today program.
Now And Then, a song recorded by Lennon before his death in 1980, faced challenges in cleaning up. George Harrison rejected his attempt, but AI technology has revived the song. McCartney consulted Peter Jackson, who had used AI to create clean audio in the Get Back documentary.
'He [Jackson] was able to extricate John's voice from a ropey little bit of cassette,' he explained.
'We had John's voice and a piano and he could separate them with AI. They tell the machine. "That's the voice. This is a guitar. Lose the guitar".
'So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles' record, it was a demo that John had [and] we were able to take John's voice and get it pure through this AI.
'Then we can mix the record, as you would normally do. So it gives you some sort of leeway.'
We can't wait for this to happen.
