Twitter restricts the number of tweets users can read during a protracted outage

As a result of an ongoing outage that has made it difficult for users to follow new postings, Twitter is restricting the number of tweets that a user may read. Twitter is owned by Elon Musk.

Musk described the updated use limitations in a tweet. Verified account holders are permitted to view up to 6,000 posts each day, while unverified individuals are restricted to just 600 posts. According to the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, newly registered, unverified users are subject to even stricter limitations, with a daily posting limit of just 300. (Since then, he has raised the cap to 10,000, 1,000, and 500.)

Musk claims that these additional restrictions are a necessary step to address Twitter's urgent problems with "extreme levels of data scraping" from "several hundred organizations" and "system manipulation."

Musk did not provide any information on the source of the Twitter data scraping, the duration of the problem, or the system manipulation claim. The billionaire has already voiced his worries about Twitter's data scraping and hinted that he would take legal action against the offenders. For a brief while, Musk expressed fury about Microsoft "illegally" utilizing Twitter data and threatened legal action.

A flaw in Twitter's web application is causing queries to be sent indefinitely. This comes after hundreds of users expressed their dissatisfaction with the "rate limit exceeded" message and their inability to get newer tweets.

Before limiting access to its site for those who are not signed in, Twitter has experienced comparable technological difficulties. Apparently, Meta is getting ready to introduce its own Twitter competitor.
