Android users may now download Blackmagic Camera
Customers who own Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phones can now access the same controls thanks to the Blackmagic Camera app, which was released in September for iPhone and offers professional-grade shooting features and connectivity with Blackmagic Design's video production pipeline tools.
“The Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone has been incredibly popular since it was launched last year,” says Grant Petty, the company’s CEO. “We are excited to be able to give customers with Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phones the same controls for shooting digital film as our professional cameras.”
Terry Frechette, a representative for Blackmagic Design, revealed to The Verge that the Blackmagic Camera app for Android has one regrettable limitation. Although the software is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S23, S24, and Google Pixel 7/8 lineups, it "may be used on phones running Android 13 or later." When asked if the app would someday be made available on other Android smartphones, the business was likewise unable to provide any information.
